A less visual and more practical update from us today… In the next few weeks we will have to register with the VAT man – This means that VAT (20%) will be added to the cost of all products except Order of Service booklets. If you’d like to avoid this charge you might like to place an order as soon as possible (even for weddings later in the year for which we can put your order on hold until you’re ready…) Please note that any quotations we may have given you previously will only be honoured until Friday 15th February 2013. Thanks so much
VAT registration…
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Friday, January 25th, 2013Happy New Year!
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Monday, December 31st, 2012I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Christmas break… It always comes and goes far too quickly doesn’t it!?
Reflecting on the year, it’s been a pretty incredible rollercoaster journey for us here at In the Treehouse - It has been our first full year in business, and one of astounding growth, countless blessings, proud moments & useful challenges.
When 2012 set in one year ago, I (Jenny) was running the business from my utility room single handedly – working to the smaller-than-small hours growing a little treehouse-shaped seed, and living in a general state of complete exhaustion… Looking back on how far things have moved on since then, I still have to pinch myself – although the joys have been countless, i have none the less attempted to quantify them in this round up of highlights:
In February 2012, Matt joined me full time as the Treehouse Keeper, and 3 months later, another lovely Matt joined the team as a full time Design Assistant. In June we moved into a spacious, beautiful and creatively inspiring new studio in my home town of Tavistock, Devon. We’ve had the absolute pleasure in working with over 300 couples this year (click here to see some of their lovely wedding photos), providing a whopping 50,104 pieces of stationery! (which is a little mind boggling, even if we do say so ourselves). We’ve also been honoured to be nominated for 2 national awards for Best Wedding Stationery (watch this space!)
It’s been a year of personal joys too, especially for proud new parents Matt (the Treehouse Keeper) and Leanne with birth of beautiful baby Pearl in November. In the same month, a moment I had long dreamt of and hoped for finally arrived when my fiancé proposed on a bridge over the River Thames. (In case you hadn’t guessed, I said YES!)
So, on to 2013 – I have designed this little poster which will hopefully get you inspired to see in the new year with gusto -
In 2013 we’re hoping for another busy and prosperous year In the Treehouse – and we can’t wait to share it with you. Please let us take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm for what we do, it means the world. Thanks to all the clients who have put their faith in us over this last year, we hope we did you proud.
From all of us here, we wish you a wonderful year!
Some important changes to our order process…
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Monday, June 18th, 2012To cope with growing demand and to make sure we’re providing the absolute best service we can, we’ve made some changes to our order process which it’s worth being aware of if you’re considering ordering stationery with us. Please be aware that if you’re a current client this won’t affect your order & our prices haven’t changed..

Competition time to mark our 1st anniversary…
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Monday, April 9th, 2012Happy Easter to all, I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend with lots of friends & family around… It’s been an extra special one for us here as it’s been our first birthday – we opened for business on 6th April 2011 and what a year it’s been! As we continue to get busier and busier with new orders and clients, recruit our fourth member of staff expand in other exciting ways (details coming soon), I can’t help but feel incredibly lucky, happy and proud that the future looks so bright for this little business…
To mark the occasion, we’ve launched a competition open to all of our Facebook ‘likers’ – I really do mean it when I say thank you so much to each one of whom for the continued support over the last year. We love posting regular wedding inspiration, DIY party ideas and other interesting features on our Facebook page, but most of all, it’s our favourite place to get to know clients and followers that little bit more. So, to show our appreciation…
To enter the competition, (you must have ‘liked’ us on Facebook) – simply share a birthday memory below – could be a fond one, a funny one, an outrageous one or anything you fancy! The winner’s name will be picked out at random on Saturday 14th April at midday, so enter before then to be in with a chance.
(please note: We will be working with the winner to design the print in May and have it delivered by 14th June 2012. if you win the competition and you would like the print delivered to an address outside of the UK, it will be unframed, but in a size of your choice ready for you to frame yourself)
Good luck! x
The Vintage Wedding Fayre – Devonport Guildhall, Plymouth
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012Happy Tuesday everyone, hope you’re all well today… Just wanted to show you a poster we recently designed for the Vintage Wedding Fayre, which is taking place at Devonport Guildhall, Plymouth: As the title aptly describes, the theme for the event is vintage, which was the biggest inspiration for the poster… Hope you like it!
The design takes inspiration from vintage dress patterns – my mum being a fashion designer, I’ve grown up with lots of fashion illustrations and sketches around the house – (in fact, I think I’ll do a blog post about those soon!)
I chose a pale pink and green colour scheme to give it a soft, yet bright and eye catching look – it’s a colour scheme lots of our Brides and Grooms are planning for their big day too.
The fayre is set to be a great event, and I’m so excited about exhibiting there – it’ll be our first wedding show so we’re having fun planning our display and getting everything together already… Devonport Guildhall is a truly beautiful wedding venue I know there’ll be a great buzz about the place on 12/02 – loads of exciting bespoke suppliers are showing – all with a vintage theme. It’s also pretty rare to find a free wedding fayre these days, so make the most of it and come and say hello. x
New Years Resolutions: number 1
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Thursday, January 5th, 2012
Over the next 3 days I’ll be sharing some of my new years resolutions with you… (the one’s I haven’t given up on already that is!) Hopefully through the process of immortalising these words on the blog, I’ll be encouraged to keep them. So far, the only one I’ve ever kept in my life was 2 years ago when I vowed to give up sugar in my tea (pretty necessary considering the amount of tea I drink!)
So, first up: Blog Daily! The amount of visitors to our site and blog is increasingly monthly, with 2,300 in December. I figured that’s enough of you to justify daily updates on free printables, competitions, Bridal inspiration, DIY projects, and of course, stationery designs to the blog. Given that I have a little one and officially only work 3 days a week (although plenty of evenings at the moment too), I can’t promise my it will be an on the dot 9am blog post every morning, but it will be daily. Follow the journey and pop back every few days or at least once a week to see what we’ve been up to… It’s also worth ‘liking’ us on facebook or following us on twitter for automatic updates. http://www.facebook.com/pages/In-The-Treehouse/147194918669981 / https://twitter.com/#!/inthetreehouse_. Whatever your resolutions are, be they for new year or any other time, best of luck! x
In the post…
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011If you’re behind me in the post office queue today, I’m truly sorry! (Our local isn’t exactly a metropolitan, technology fuelled, state of the art post office – there’s usually one counter open, with lady serving who’s on the maturer side of retirement age! She is lovely though and always gives my daughter a lollipop…)
We’re looking to take someone on (local to the Plymouth area) for around 5 hours a week to take care of all our wrapping and postage. If you/someone you know is interested, please email us at info@inthetreehouse.co.uk, or by using the contact form to the right. xxx
Who says a business review has to look boring?!
Posted in: In the Treehouse Blog on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011Our little business turned 6 months old on 01.10.11 and so we thought we’d take a little look back at how things have progressed…
As you can see, it’s been pretty busy! Although there have been plenty of hairy moments, tough times and tired evenings I just can’t imagine wanting to do anything else – I absolutely love working with clients, hearing about their celebrations, designing stationery which truly represents them & getting their reaction once they receive it. I also feel so thankful for the creativity that this blog allows me – putting together DIY projects & inspiration boards to inspire Brides-to-be, and giving other great wedding suppliers a platform to showcase their work through our Words of Wisdom feature - being awarded Wedding Blog of the Week by WEDDING magazine made all the work we put into our blog worthwhile. I’d love to take this opportunity to thank all of you who stop by and take the time to browse the blog, and especially to all of the people who ‘like’ us on facebook - there’s a competition coming your way later in the week, so stay tuned… x
